Book Review: Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings

By: Christopher Moore

This book makes the story of Jonah and the Whale possible. From taking the occasional dig at scientists who research seemingly meaningless topics to a world that would make most science fiction writers give up their jobs, the reader is taken on a journey through the impossible - made to seem totally possible. The characters are colourful and well developed and keep you turning the page to find out what happens next. Towards the end, the story line crosses the bounds of believability, but doesn't completely kill the story. A good read for those who enjoy a bit of irony and have the imagination to follow the path laid down by the writer. To add to the enjoyment read the quotes at the beginning of each chapter.
